BJP concerned over increasing causalities in security forces
6/1/2010 11:17:20 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June: 1 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed its concern over increasing casualties of men in uniforms in trouble Kashmir, saying that the Centre should take a note of development in realistic manner keeping in mind that enemy has forced a proxy war. In a press statement issued here today, Chaman Lal Gupta, former Union Minister and leader of the BJP Legislature Party, said, "A proxy war is being fought on our soil, and that too, in a highly complex situation, wherein the forces need more of patting rather than denunciation and leg-pulling." Gupta pointed out that as per reported figures available, during the past five months of this year as many as five Army officers and 32 Cops have been martyred whereas the number of terrorists eliminated stood at 107. "This indicated the ratio of causalities of the militants have come down to three into one whereas earlier it was generally four into one," he said.
He observed that this indicated that the boggy created about violation of human rights coupled with the uncalled for statements about zero tolerance of the human rights violations of the ruling leaders particularly those of the Defence Minister are having a great bearing on the morale of the forces and providing encouragement to secessionists and semi-secessionists, whose sole objective is to malign the forces.
The BJP leader further said, "It is the duty of the any Government, more so that of the Defence Minister to keep up the morale of the forces but it was unfortunate that A K Antony too, has joined the chord that there would be zero tolerance of the violations. Regarding the galore of "false" allegations, the BJP leader said that it was highly deplorable that those who are indulging in spreading canards against the men of the forces are nowhere made accountable. "Over 98 per cent complaints have been established concocted and motivated during all these years but there was not a single case in which any of such manipulators has been brought to book. On the contrary, many of such politicians including those openly preaching separatism are being extended VVIP treatment," he added.
