6/1/2010 11:45:11 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 1: A pal of gloom descended on Rajpora, Pulwama when a decomposed human skeleton was unearthed by Bakerwals this morning. This is the fourth skeleton to be recovered from South Kashmir in the past three days.
According to reports, Bakerwals saw worn out clothes protruding from the soil at Namblan Behak in Rajpora, Pulwama today. After slight digging, a decomposed human skeleton was unearthed. A rope and a sharp edged knife were also recovered from the burial site.
The police immediately rushed to the spot and took samples of bones for forensic examination. Soon after, the police called relatives of Muhammad Yusuf Wagay from Buhama. Wagay, it may be recalled was abducted by unidentified gunmen on October 3, 2009. A report under section 363 RPC lies registered in the concerned police station.
Wagay's relatives identified the clothes found with the skeleton as that of Yusuf Wagay. Accordingly the skeleton was handed over to them for burial.
This is the second incident of its kind in the past three days. Earlier three decomposed skeletons were recovered from an orchard in Yaripora, Kulgam.
A human rights group, Association of Parents of Disappeared persons has produced two reports in the past two years on mass graves in Kashmir. The graves were found in North Kashmir. The APDP suspects presence of such graves in other parts of the state. The recovery of four skeletons in South Kashmir during the past three days adds weight to APDP suspicion.
