| Stop politicising Nadihal fake encounter | | | If troops are found to be guilty of killing three innocent civilians in fake encounfer in Nadihal in Rafiabad area it deserves not only condemnation but heavy punishment for those identified by the police to have been involved in the tragic event.Well the Police has done its job and the Army authorities have ordered a probe. One has to wait for the final report and for the action the Government would take against the alleged killers. But the most tragic part of such incdents has been the way the separatists have been trying to exploit it to their advantage.Chairman All Party Hurriyat Conference,Molvi Umar Farooq, has said that the separatists will stage surprise protests against what he calls genocide of people. He is seen fuming and fretting when he describes the Nadihal type incident as trading in blood. The PDP and other political organisations have started dishing out list of several missing persons whom they believe have been the victims of fake encounters. The Nadihal incident has tarnished the image of the troops at a time when the demand for withdrawal of troops and the repeal of the AFSPA has started gaining momentum in the Kashmir valley.Earlier, the Shopian incident,in which two women Aisya and Neelofar, were alleged to have been raped and murdered by the security forces had paralysed normal life in the valley for over two months.Even the highly literate people were heard shouting loud against some security personnel whom they had alleged to have been responsible for rape and murder. The local doctors and the paramedical staff had connived to certify that the two women were raped and murdered. But when the case was handedover to the CBI a conspiracy was unearthed as the CBI experts had announced that the two women were not raped. And rightly the Government has initiated action against the local medical team members who had certified that the women were raped.Unfortunately even those who have been demanding CBI probe over minor issues are not prepared to buy the CBI theory. They treat the CBI story as part of India's conspiracy to cover the security forces mistakes. And the raising of memorials near the graves of Aisya and Neelofar indicates that people are not ready to accept the CBI report. In fact people have been motivated to reject the CBI report because acceptance of the report could tarnish the image of those separatists and other learned people who were seen breast beating during the Shopian agitation.Yes,even a single incident of human rights violation is condemnable and those involved in excesses need to be penalised. But it would be a bigger tragedy once people are incited to violence while protesting against human rights violations. The state Government and the centgre have declared zero tolerance against human rights violation.Hence people should wait for the Government action instead of giving communal and political colour to such incidents. If Nadihal incident is a slur on those who committed the gruesome act its does not mean that whatever services and sacrifices the troops have rendered and were rendering cannot be forgotten or ignored. It is time the separatists stop kicking up turmoil and tension in the already troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir.Yet another tragedy is that neither the separatists nor any major political party in the Kashmir valley protest whenever militants indulge in human rights violations. And surprisingly silence against human rights violations by the militants can be harmful and it may enocurage militants to repeat excesses.
