| AWWA Diwali mela inaugrated | | |

Lt Gen Rajender Singh, SM, VSM, Chief of Staff Headquarters Northern Command today inaugurated a AWWA Diwali Mela in Udhampur Cantonment. The AWWA mela will remain open to the troops, civilian staff and their families stationed at Udhampur from 17 to 19 Oct 06. The mela will have variety of food courts, amusement activities and games stalls. The mela will also have horse and camel riding, giant wheel, swinging boats and many other such facilities of fun and frolic. In addition, the mela will host stalls set up by the Army Wives Welfare Association and items produced by differently -abled children of ASHA School.
This is a welfare activity organised by Headquarters Northern Command and the Army Wives Welfare Association aimed to provide a platform to all personnel and their families stationed at Udhampur to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights in a befitting manner.
