| Spell of silence and sleep not to be misconstrued as marginalization of APHC: Prof. Bhat | | | Srinagar,October 17 :-What exactly the APHC leaders are doing at present ?”We are watching waves in the ocean of politics. We are trying to capture the waves and we do not know whether we can do it or the waves will swallow us,”was the cryptic answer from a senior APHC leader,Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat,in reply to a question. He told Kashmir Independent Press on Tuesday “it is for the Government of India to resume the dialogue with us.I know there can be no escape from holding talks with us on the sidelines of the India-Pakistan dialogue.” In reply to another question Prof. Bhat said “yes more than four months have elapsed when we had a meeting with Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh. But the spells of silence and sleep should not be construed as dismay on us.” He made it clear that in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir leaders “have appeared, disappeared and reappeared and the APHC,which represents the sentiments of people, cannot be relegated to the background.” The APHC leader said “we are watching the ebb and flow of the political developments and we have already conveyed to Delhi and Islamabad that all bilateral problems, including Kashmir, can be resolved through sustained dialogue.” He said “I am happy that the foreign secretaries of the two countries were meeting next month to set the stage for a sustained dialogue and similarly Delhi will have to reopen the channels of dialogue with us because our involvement in parleys on Kashmir is mandatory as the settlement of the Kashmir issue cannot be possible without taking into account the aspirations and wishes of the people of the state.” He said “since the ball is in the court of Delhi and Islamabad we have to watch the progress of the Indo-Pak dialogue and tailor our strategy accordingly.” Prof. Bhat said that it would be wrong to say that the APHC has been “marginalized.” “We are in touch with Delhi and Islamabad. We had talks with Government of India and the establishment in Pakistan and nobody can marginalize the largest conglomerate like the APHC,”he said. |
