| Make politicians accountable for promises, actions: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 3: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emphasized the need for making the politicians accountable for their promises and actions. Addressing a meeting of the party activists here in his Jammu West Assembly Constituency at Janipur, Chaman Lal Gupta, the leader of the BJP Legislature Party, said "it is the duty of every citizen, especially those of the activists to generate a climate for exposing those who make false promises and try to hoodwink the people on various issues." He alleged that the leaders of the Congress as also those of the National Conference and some others who ruled this State for about six decades but never allowed the fair play with the democratic process and Jammu was never given its due under "communal and regional considerations". "Strangely enough all these ruling leaders always claimed that there was no discrimination and they had been extending equal treatment to all regions and the people of every region have been given equal treatment," he added and pointed out, "When out of power, they confess that there were regional disparities but after resuming power they forget every thing, and asserted that they should be made to tell the people that why this double talk." He alleged that the "evil designs" of the National Conference and its allies are very much evident that unlike other parts of the country by amending the State Constitution an embargo has been put that there would be no delimitation of Constituencies till 2026. Gupta asked the workers to bring before the public all these facts and figures, and make the leaders of these ruling parties to explain their position if they are extending equal treatment to all and why the delimitation of assembly constituencies is not being held even after the election promises.
