| CJ-headed NGO to look into militancy victim cases in Poonch-Rajouri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, June 3: Justice on Trials, a NGO, would look into the militancy victim cases in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. It is headed by former Gujarat high court chief justice S Soni, who has constituted a commission to investigate the militancy victim cases in the two districts. Former Himachal Pradesh governor V S Kokiji, who is appointed commission head, reached here today. Interacting with locals at dak bungalow here, Kokiji said having already investigated Singur and Nandigram cases and submitted the findings to President of India for delivering justice to the victims, the NGO had now focussed its attention on militancy-infested Poonch and Rajouri districts. He claimed that since the state government did not have exact data of the militancy affected people, several of them had not got justice as of today. "I have collected a preliminary data which reveals that militants killed 745 civilians between 1990-2010," he said and added, "The families of only 300 of them have got justice while those of the others are still to get justice." He said after completing their work, which would be based on research and interaction with victims, the findings would be submitted to the President of India for delivering justice to victims. Before leaving for Poonch, he listened to the grievances of the people. A BJP leader told him that thousands of people, who had migrated from the militancy affected areas of Poonch and Rajouri to safer places, were being treated like animals. Most of them were putting up in migrant camps in Jammu in a very pitiable condition, he added. The BJP leader said these migrants were not being treated at par with Kashmiri migrants.
