Jora, Bhalla lay foundation stone of Darshani Deodi at Bahu Fort

JAMMU, June 3: Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora in the presence of Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today laid foundation stone of Darshani Deodi and Beautification project of Bahu Fort area, to be completed at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh by the Tourism Department.
Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Mubarak Singh, Chief Engineer, R&B, D L Sharma, Director Tourism, Jammu, S. M. Sawhney , senior officers of Tourism, PHE, R&B and PDD accompanied the Ministers.
Addressing a gathering, Jora said that the measures are afoot to explore and tap the tourism potential of all the three regions of the State. He said Jammu is receiving focused attention of the government and various projects are in the pipeline to develop the various sites by providing better infrastructural and logistic facilities.
Jora said "to meet the challenges in tourism our emphasis is on diversification and providing requisite infrastructure facilities for adventure, pilgrims and heritage tourism in the State".
The Minister said that efforts are to divert tourists of Mata Vaishno Devi to other pilgrim places and leisure and adventure spots of the region and added that for the purpose the Government has upgraded infrastructure and recreational facilities at tourist spots across the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, reiterated that the Government was paying focused attention for developing the Bahu Fort area on modern lines.
Bhalla thanked the Tourism Minister for his initiatives for developing Bahu Fort area as a tourist attraction and said that it will definitely improve the economy of the area. He said that sites like Temple of Kaliveer at Sunjwan, Bawe Wali Mata at Bahu Fort, Mahamaya Temple in Mahamaya forests need to be developed and promoted for attracting religious tourists from various places .
