| New base camp at Panjtarni: SASB | | | SRINAGAR: Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) today decided to establish a new base camp at 3,657 meter high Panjtarni, six km short of the holy cave shrine. Governor NN Vohra, who is Chairman of SASB, today flew to Panjtarni, 140 kms from here, and held discussions with officials on arrangements required at the new base camp, a board spokesman said. He went around the Panjtarni Camp, which is still under fairly heavy snow, and issued instructions to Chief Executive Officer of the Board RK Goyal and all other concerned officers to timely ensure the arrangements. The yatra to the cave shrine situated in South Kashmir Himalayas is scheduled to commence from July one. Vohra also went to Baltal,the shortest route to the cave, and took stock of various infrastructural and logistical facilities being provided for the upcoming Amarnath yatra.
