Aijaz for early completion of new Degree Colleges
Spot inspection of construction work of Deg. Colleges Sopore, Bandipora

Srinagar, October 17 - State Government is very keen for early completion of construction work of new Degree Colleges to make them functional at the earliest. For the purpose adequate funds are available.
This was revealed by the Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan while addressing staff members and students of Government Women Degree College, Sopore and Degree College, Bandipora at an impressive function organized in this behalf yesterday. Mr. Khan took on the spot review of construction work on both Degree Colleges being constructed under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Package Programme. He stressed upon executing agency to complete the ground floors by March 2007 positively.
MLA Sopore Mr. Abdul Rashid Dar who is also Chairman Handicrafts Development Corporation and MLA Bandipora Mr. Usman Majid also accompanied the Minister.
Administrative Block, Lecture rooms, Chemistry and Physics Laboratory blocks have been constructed upto plinth level of both the colleges, at Cumulative cost of Rs.6.60 crore, of this Rs.2.07 crore for each college stands released already.
Addressing the function MLA Sopore said that present government is committed to provide potable water, electricity to its people besides construction of road connectivity, schools, bridges and other basic infrastructure on priority.
MLA Bandipora said that government has adopted people friendly policies which will be beneficial for the people. With the creation of Bandipur a district and establishment of a Degree College a long pending demand of the people have been met. Special attention for over all development of all three regions of the state, especially of neglected and far-flung areas is accorded.
Enroute the Minister inspected pace of work on Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bandipore, an extension office SKUAST. Said complex is coming up at a cost of Rs.2.50 crore.
