Indian army best belt force than any other country: Prof. Gupta
6/5/2010 10:53:17 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 5: The BJP senior leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has urged upon President of India and Governor of the state to take note of the chord of the politicians, including the ruling leaders of the Congress and of National Conference against the forces in this troubled State especially in the valley of Kashmir valley.
He said that a strange situation has been created that certain secessionist and semi-secessionists level charges against the officers and the cops of the forces. Without holding any inquiry and finding out the facts the men in authority including the Chief Minister as also the Pradesh President of the Congress party come out with the hasty statements that the guilty would not be spared. More astoundsh is the approach of the central government leaders that even the Defence Minister quite often too, come out with similar uncalled statements which lend support to the accusing minds and thus provide encouragement to the perpetrators of falsehood and operating with motives.
Interacting with a group of ex-servicemen here today, hesaid that men in power at the centre are forgetting that Pakistan has launched a proxy war and the enemy has also been about to penetrate on our soil, so much so, that certain elements willingly or unwillingly are getting tools to the hands of the operators of cross border terror.
He said that on basis of his personal experience it c an be claimed that the Indian Army is best of the belt force than any other country in all respects including the valour as also in having great regard for Human Rights. But the campaign launched in Kashmir he said is politically motivated and certain leaders are raising the boggy of violation of Human Rights is designed to achieve something which they could not attain by raising slogans of plebiscite, autonomy, self-rule and what not.
He said if any officer or jawan commits any wrong, the rules and laws are there to proceed against them but it sounds strange that the whole issue of violation of Human Rights and their zero tolerance is being politicized. Thus, an impression is being created that there is something wrong with the forces and this give credence that Indian forces are behaving as alien in this part of the country.
The ex-servicemen on the occasion listed their grievances against the state government including the imposition of VAT on canteens and depriving of other facilities which have been denied to them unlike other parts of the country.
The Former minister assured them that he would take up the matter with the concerned and added that there is a need to mobilize the forces of nationalism in this state as also elsewhere in the country to expose the policies of government leaders providing encouragement to separatists, semi-separatists and moreso to the falsehood being created against the forces.
Prof. Gupta hoped that the President of India as also the Governor of the State as being constitutional heads would realize the gravity of the situation and the dangers inherent in maligning and demoralizing the forces especially when the proxy war launched from across the border is not yet over.
