| Registration for Amarnath Yatra begins | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 5: The registration for annual pilgrimage of holy Amarnath shrine in north Kashmir was started today and would be open till Aug 22 for Pahalgam route while Aug 23 is the last date for Baltal route. On day first of the registration process, about 193 pilgrims got themselves registered at the three counters established by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited for the pilgrimage commencing from July 1. Official sources said that the Bank has established three counters at Gandhi Nagar, Bakshi Nagar and Residenacy road branch in Jammu, while a total of 121 counters have been set up by the bank across the country. The counters would be open from 3 pm to 6 pm on all working week days and 1 pm to 4 pm on all working Saturdays. Sources disclosed, "33 pilgrims have got registered at Bakshi Nagar branch of the bank of which 26 have registered for Baltal and seven opted Pahalgam route while at Gandhi Nagar branch 89 pilgrims registered themselves of which 62 have opted Baltal route while 027 have opted Pahalgam route for pilgrimage. At Residency road, 71 persons have registered themselves for performing yatra." Goverdan Dubey, coordinator appointed by the bank said, "We have received good response and many people have also taken the registration forms today. We have pressed in additional personnel to make the registration process smooth." The annual Amarnath yatra would commence on July 1, from the traditional two routes Baltal and Pahalgam and would conclude on August 24, the day of Raksha Bandhan. Pilgrims can avail helicopter services on two routes Baltal-Panjtarni-Baltal and Pahalgam-Panjtarni-Pahalgam. The one-way for Baltal-Panjtarni and Pahalgam-Panjtarni priced at Rs 2425 and Rs 3800 respectively.
