| Handa College celebrates world environment day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 5: The Environmental Club of Handa College of Education today celebrated world environment day. The Managing Director of the college, Dr. Vikram Handa, chaired the first session. In the first session, Prof. Phoola Chowdhary, in her speech stressed that there is a need to educate the masses about the importance of environment vis-à-vis our lives and an urgent need to keep it under safer limits. She also stressed that organizing such programmes should be a call to one and all to awake from the slumber of illusion by turning this idea into an effective movement so that posterity does not feel on this very earth like a fish out of water. Other speakers were .Suneeta Samyal, Shapia Shameem (Lecturers), Surrender Mishra and Abhay Pandey (students).
In the second session a rally was flagged out by Dr.Vikram Handa (M.D) and it was led by Abhay Pandey, Surrender Mishra, Aijaj, Shafayat, Preeti, Charanjeet, and Poonam. The rally, including teachers and students, was taken out from Sainik Colony to Kunjwani with the placards in their hands with the messages save earth ,save life.Suneeta Samyal, the convenor of the programme, anchored the whole programme.
Dr. Vikram Handa , while speaking on the occasion emphasized the need to have will and determination to change our mindset for saving the Mother Earth from disastrous situation. He also talked about the environmental hazards of pollution, Deforestation and Extinction of some species. Simmi lal presented vote of thanks.
