JAMMU, June 7: Abdul Gani of Punjab and Benia of Basantgarh in Udhampur shared the 31st Annual Bhagani Kesari Vishal Dangal title after their 36-minute long dilly dallying battle for the top honours ended in a draw at Bhagani in block Bhalwal, here.
Both the wrestlers fighting for the main bout were given away a cash award of Rs 11,000 each by chief guest, SDPO Akhnoor, M Choud-hary. President of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Saif-Ul-Maluk of Sailkot in Pakistan, Divisional Manager of ST/SC/BC Corporation, Gulam Qadir and AEE. Gulam Rasool were guests of honour.
Former Sarpanch, Mohd. Anwar Khan, Pt. Nanak Chand, Sham Lal and Bittu were among other prominent people present.
Second main bout won by Roshan Lal of J&K Police beating Teg Ali of Mallerkotla in Punjab. Winner, Roshan was given away a cash prize of Rs 3,000 while Teg Ali got Rs 2,000. In third main bout Onkar Singh of BSF defeated Sainf Ali of Mallerkotla while Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal clinched the fourth bout outplaying Mohd Akram of Chouadi. The fifth bout went to Anil Kumar (Mohanu) of J&K Police who defeated Kalu of Shiv Mandir Akhara Jammu. In sixth main bout, Bobari of Jammu defeated Shesh Kumar of BSF.
Member of organizing Committee and those technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of dangal included Mohd. Anwar Khan, Bittu Raina, Ali Akbar, Sham Singh, Sham Lal, Hazi Mohd. Ashraf, Galli Raina, Hazi Mohd Shaffi, Shiv Ram, Des Raj, Krishan Gopal, Manzoor Hussain, Ch. Mohd. Sadiq, Som Raj, Om Parkash Sharma, Mohd. Fareed, Allah Mai (Ranga).
