EARLY TIMES REPORT REASI, June 7: To prevent depletion of ground water table in water scarcity areas, District Magistrate, Reasi, Pandurang K. Pole in exercise of powers vested in him under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code has banned the excavation of Nallaha and river bed material. As per the order, no person, firm or department shall undertake excavation of Nallaha or river bed material including sand, bajri, stone, clay etc. from Jhajar Nallaha in 1 Km upstream of Khotli Bridge, Moori Nallaha in 1 Km upstream of Jhajar Kotli Bridge, Banganga and Balni Nallaha in revenue village Shapnoo, Kanjli and Tanda, Anji and Ikhni in village Anji, Suketer, Ghayla, Seeta and Reasi, Mari Nallaha and Aghar in village Mari Agharhallian and Vijaypur, Pouni-kalhad Nallaha in Revenue village Mari(Pouni) and Kalhar, Ans Nallaha upstream 5Km from Narloo Bridge, Sarad Nallaha in Revenue village Sarmegha and Bakkal. According to the District Magistrate, any person found violating the order shall be proceeded under the provision Cr.P.C/R.P.C in addition seizure of machinery or instruments and vehicles used in excavation. The order shall have an immediate effect which will remain in force for a period of two months unless resigned earlier.
