| Symposia on ill effects of tobacco organized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, June 7: To aware the masses especially the youngsters about the ill effects of Tobacco, the department of Drugs & Food Control in collaboration with Department of Education, Health and Information started a District Level Awareness Campaign under the aegis of District Monitoring Committee, Udhampur on the Indian Tobacco Control Act-2003 on Monday. Under the campaign, a symposium was organized at Government Higher Secondary School Chenani on the topic 'Ill effects of tabacco' in which 16 students were expressed their views on the topic and highlighted the dreaded effects of use of Tobacco. Speaking at Government Higher Secondary School, Chenani, Assistant Controller Drugs, Munish Gupta gave a detailed account of the campaign and highlighted various provisions of the Act. Deepika Sumbria of 12th standard was adjudged best speaker in the symposium while as second and third positions were clinched by Modh Zaffar Bhat and Kuldeep Singh respectively. Among others, Principal GHSS, Chenani, Smt. Manjula Arora, Dr. Sandeep of Sub District hospital Chenani, ZEO Chenani, Drug inspector Udhampur, staff and students in large number were present on the occasion.
