| Programme on 'world environment week' held at SKUAST | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 7: In the context of "World Environment Week-2010" Directorate of environment, ecology and remote sensing organized an environment awareness programme at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology in collaboration with soil conservation society of India, here today. The students of the faculty of agriculture and Veterinary sciences organized painting competition on "Earth - 2050", Madhvi Palathia M.sc student of faculty of Agriculture and stood first in the competition. A symposium on environmental issues was also organized; by the students were Kanchan Bala, a B.Sc agriculture student was adjusted first. Besides this, quiz competition was also organized by the students on the occasion a talk on the benefits of medical plants was delivered by Prof. Uma Sharma, President Pajtanjili Yog Peeth, while Dr. Rajinder Peshin, Associate Prof. at SKUAST delivered a talk on "environmental impact of modern agriculture" R.C Sharma form the directorate of environmental , ecology and remote sensing highlighted the issues related to environment, and discussed about the environmental issues concerning planet earth and how to sustain the flora and fauna. Prof. R.M Bhagat Dean Post Graduate Studies highlighted the role of sustainable agriculture practices in conserving the natural resources. Dr. Vikas Sharma, secretary, soil conservation society of India. Also participate in function Dr. S B Bakshi, Deputy Director Student's welfare; SKUAST Jammu conducted the proceedings of the function.
