| NCP demands reservation for students in other states | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 7: National Congress Party (NCP) urged various states of the country to provide Technical seats in their professional colleges to the youth of all the three regions Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh of all communities of J&K on the pattern of Kashmiri Migrants as the entire population of the state has equally affected due to the terrorism in the state here today. Addressing the media persons, former minister and NCP state president Thakur Randhir Singh said that Maharashtra was the first state in the country to make this provision under then Chief Minister, Sharad Pawar in 1990, benefiting large number of Kashmiri migrants. Finally this concession was extended in Paramilitary forces, IAS, IPS, IFS, besides J&K police and Border area. The NCP president also urged the state and central governments to provide cash relief rations and residential accommodation and other benefits like jobs to the migrants of Jammu region who had to leave their homes and hearth due to militancy. Referring to the vast wealth of Aromatic and Medicinal plants in J&K, Singh who is the national president aromatic and medicinal plants growers association of India, recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture Government of India, urged the Prime Minister to declare J&K as a Herbal state and sanction a special package of Rs 10000 crores for promotion of this vital sector, which has great potential to boost economic development. This would create sustainable employment to 3000 agriculture technocrats. Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included Rajesh Gupta, Amrit Sagar, Gulab Chand Bhagat, J A Khan, Sham Singh, and Sudershan Choudhary besides others.
