| Six injured in grenade explosion at Narbal | | Congress activist escapes unhurt | |
SRINAGAR: Six people were injured in a powerful grenade explosion on the outskirts of Srinagar at Narbal on Tuesday afternoon. According to the reports reaching here, unidentified persons lobbed a hand grenade towards the vehicle of Congress activist, Hilal Parvez near Narbal on Srinagar- Barmulla highway, however, grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the road injuring seven pedestrians. However, Parvez escaped unhurt in the attack. Three of the injured pedestrians were identified as Javed Ahmed, Bilal Ahmed and Sayed Ahmed. Eyewitnesses said that "After hitting the police gypsy, the grenade fell and exploded on the road, injuring six civilians. The condition of one injured person is serious." The injured were taken to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for treatment. The explosion led to disruption of traffic on the road to the north Kashmir popular tourist resort of Gulmarg. Security forces immediately reached the spot and the entire market place was searched.
