| SRS suspends Jammu bandh call | | 'Exemption on toll tax' | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 10: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) today suspended its Jammu bandh call on June 12 following government's announcement of revising entry tax on the vehicles of Amarnath pilgrims to be charged at Lakhanpur, the gateway of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing media persons here today, Shri Ram Sena, State President, Rajiv Mahajan, said that a deputation Shri Ram Sena, met the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and submitted memorandum for the "exemption" of Toll Tax on the vehicles, carrying food grains from outside of the state for the use of free langar during the pilgrimage of Amarnath this year and also for the exemption of the security being charged from persons-parties who are distributing the free langars in Jammu and Kashmir during the period of yatra. The SRS president claimed that the Divisional Commissioner Jammu gave them patient hearing and was "pleased to announce the exemption of the toll tax" at Lakhanpur in respect of the vehicles bringing the food grains from outside of the state in the Jammu and Kashmir for use in free langar with immediate effect. He further said that the Divisional Commissioner Jammu that the security which is being charged from the person/parties who are establishing free langar is being charged by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and not by the government and has asked the deputationists to approach the shrine board for exemption of the security from the person/parties who are setting up free langar en route the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in north Kashmir. Mahajan said that fowling positive response from administration SRS has decided to suspend its Jammu bandh call. However, he appealed to the Shrine Board to exempt the amount the security to the members /parties who are arranging free langer for the pilgrims.
