| DGP's public friendly policing have hardly takers in Kathua | | | ARUN TRISAL

Kathua, June 10: In a bizarre situation, cops in khaki brutally beat an innocent family of a poor person to appease their blue eyed and influential person over the pretext of shutting water supply. It is ironical to maintain that despite being the case subjudice, cops did not bother about the sanctity of hon'ble court.
People of the Village Haria Chack of Tehsil Hiranagar staged massive protest against the atrocities committed by Raj Bag Police in front of SSP office and demanded dismissal of some police persons who are presently posted at Raj Bag Police Station for beating innocent family of Bishan Dass S/o Kaka Ram of Haria Chack.
Bishan Dass said that few police persons under the influence liquor led by ASI, Jamur Singh, and Nazir Ahmad forcibly entered in the house of victim at midnight near about 1pm and started abusing his children and wife besides started beating entire family with baton. On asking as why they were beating the family, replied that victim have closed the water distributory of one Yog Raj Singh.
It is pertinent to mention that a court case is going on over the issue, Bishan Dass Vs Yog Raj and even the court has taken stay in this matter, on showing the stay order to police persons, they did not stopped beating the family and even they tore the court order. Demanding justice from SSP, Kathua, protestors raised the questions over the behavior of policing.
It seems that Director General of Police (DGP) who favours modernization in police department by making it public friendly have hardly any takers in Raj Bag police station. Or the compulsion of appeasing influential against meager favours bent cops to continue to malign the image of police department. Victim is not the first one in the area who has been thrashed under influence of liquor by police but there are hundreds of cases wherein police opt for Jungle Rule and beat innocent people whenever they like to. Will the victim gets justice remains to be watched.
