| Postal deptt launches new pension scheme for customers | | New products like MO Videsh, iMO also introduced | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 10: Department of Post has launched new schemes viz New Pension Scheme (NPS), Money Order Videsh (MO Videsh) and instant Money Order (iMO) throughout the country for diversification of its product base and to fulfill its social commitments to the civil society. The new schemes were launched by the Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle Y S Mohan here while talking to media persons here today. "In order to provide avenues to the citizens of India to plan for their retirement Government of India has announced this New Pension Scheme (NPS) and any citizen of India in the age group of 18 to 55 years can invest in NPS and continue investments till the age of 60," said Y S Mohan. He said, "Department of Posts has selected 9 HPOs in the J&K Circle and these HPOs are referred as PoP-SP (Point of Presence-Service Provider)," adding that the Head Post Offices included Jammu Gandhi Nagar HPO, Kacchi Chawani HPO, Srinagar HPO, Udhampur HPO, Rajouri HPO, Kathua HPO, Baramulla HPO, Anantnag HPO and Leh HPO. He added that in the NPS all citizens would be able to deposit a minimum of Rs 500 per month, from the age of 18 to 55 years in two-tier provision. "In the first-tier, one can deposit a minimum of Rs 6,000 in a year in at least four installments or Rs 500 per month. There would be no limit to subscriptions in any tier. The minimum deposit in tier II account is Rs 1000 as initial installment and Rs. 250 as subsequent installment subject to minimum of Rs, 6000 per annum," he said. The Chief Postmaster General further said, "At the end of 60 years out of corpus accumulated 60 per cent share would be paid to the subscriber and 40 per cent to one of the pension providing companies selected from the list by the subscriber who would provide pension to the subscriber besides no withdrawal can be made from tier I account till maturity such withdrawals are admissible in tier II account'. He informed, "Department in collaboration with Euro Giro has launched new scheme of money transfer from abroad and vice-versa MO Videsh (Money order Videsh) for the purposes including Studies abroad, Medical Treatment, Family maintenance, Travel abroad and the minimum value of amount for outward transmission is 100 US dolloar and maximum 500 US Dollar per transaction (under Medical treatment) one lakh US dollar for education abroad & 10,000 US dollar per annual for travel abroad". In J&K Circle, the MO Videsh facility has initially provided through Gandhi Nagar HO, Kathua HO, Srinagar GPO, Udhampur HO and Leh HO and the same will be extended at more locations soon. "In iMO the instant on-line money transfer service, a person can transfer money from INR 1,000 to INR 50,000 from designated iMO Post Offices, but receiver to present the 16 digit iMO number at any designated iMO post office counter and will fill up and submit a 'To Make Payment' (TMP-1) form along with a copy of his personal identity proof," Mohan informed. Brij Bihari, Assistant Director Postal Services (Business Development) J&K Circle was also present in the press conference.
