| Jora charges Farooq of violating coalition ethics | | | Early Times Report Jammu , June 10: In a bizarre situation of sorts that surfaced at the review meeting headed by the Prime Minister during his recent visit to Kashmir, the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah and the State Minister for Tourism Rigzin Jora were seen caught in an altercation in the presence of the Prime Minister. Congress representative from Leh Rigzin Jora had the grouse that he was not invited to a meeting in which energy requirements of Ladakh region were brought under consideration. Elected to the assembly from Ladakh constituency, Jora told Farooq that ignoring him actually meant ignoring the feelings of the people of his constituency. This, he argued, violated the norms and philosophy of a coalition ministry. Farooq Abdullah is reported to have reacted rather angrily to Jora's remonstration. Their squabble was disturbing to the Prime Minister who tried to moderate Farooq Abdullah in dealing with ministers younger to him in age. Observers believe that the cause of the spite between the leaders is political rather than personal. It will be reminded that in spite of an understanding between NC and Congress on Ladakh parliamentary seat, the former fielded its candidate Ghulam Hassan Khan at the last minute and the Congress candidate P Namgyal lost to him. The bitterness has persisted unperceptibly.
