| DIG IRP declares open inter-district shooting competition | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 10: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Indian Reserve Police (IRP), Danish Rana today declared open the 1st Inter District Shooting competition at J&K Police Shooting Ranges, Gulshan Ground here. The competition, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) in collaboration with Jammu District Rifle association and J&K Police, shall be held in three categories of below- 15 (sub junior), below-16 to and below 19 years (Junior category) and above 19 years Open category. In all, 60 shooters are participating in this four-day long event. Earlier, on the opening day, .177 Air Pistol and Rifle league round matches were played in both boys and sections, while .22 weapon competitions shall be held on June 12 at Sunjwan range. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest complimented the organizers for hosting competition. He said even as shooting is not a glamous game like wise football and cricket, but we should not forget the contribution of shooters like Abhinav Bindra, Rajvardhan Singh Rathore in the Olympics . Impressed to see the talent in the state, he hoped that days are not far when shooters of the J&K state will win medal in the national and internationals competitions. He assured the Association of all possible help from police for the promotion of shooting in the state. Among those who attended the inaugural function included Kuldeep Singh (senior vice president. Sanam Sony member and president District Jammu Association, V S Jamwal, S L Kaul Commandant, IRP 3rd battalion, Dr N S Bhatial, secretary general, Sudhir Kumar, treasurer, Vaneet.
