| Pilgrims registration crosses 61,000 mark | | | Early Times report JAMMU, June 10: With registration for pilgrimage to holy cave shrine of Amarnath in north Kashmir gaining momentum, over 61,000 people from across the country have registered themselves so far for this year's annual yatra, set to begin from July 1. "Over 61,000 pilgrims have been registered for pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Lord Shiva in south Kashmir Himalayas till today as registration across the country began from June five," Jammu and Kashmir Bank officials said. Giving break up, they said that 33,000 people have registered themselves for the yatra through the Pahalgam-Amarnath route, while 28,000 would undertake the pilgrimage through the Baltal-Amarnath route. The registration is taking place at 121 branches of J&K Bank which is nodal agency for registration of pilgrims across the country, they said. The yatra would begin from July 1 and conclude on August 24, the day of Sharvan Purnima, The yatra registration would go on till August 20. As many as 3, 73, 419 pilgrims had visited cave shrine in 2009 and 4, 98, 075 in 2008.
