| ‘Let President do his job’ | | Rehman asks political leaders desist from raising Guru case | | JAMMU OCT-17-‘Lashing out at the political leaders of various parties including Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Dr.Farooq Abdullah, Mufti Mohammed Sayed and L K Advani for raising the bogey in favour and against the Apex Court judgment awarding capital punishment to Mohammed Afzal Guru in Parliament attack case’, the former MP and President Samajwadi Party state unit Sheikh Abdul Rehman has asked these leaders to stop raising such issues and ‘let the President of India to do his job’. ‘The President Kalam is not an individual but a full-fledged institution of the country, an authority, under the Constitution of India which empowers judiciary to hear and deliver the judgment on the law breakers’, the SP leader said. Addressing party workers at R S Pura today after returning from attending two-days Working Committee meeting of the Party at Haridwar, Rehman said ‘We should have full faith in the President’s wisdom and let him take decision as per the merits and demerits of the case, apart from other factors involved in the Guru’s case’, Rehman said, maintaining that ‘no one, whosoever, he may be have any right to attempt to build pressure on the President’. The SP leader briefed the party workers about the outcome of the two-day party meet at Haridwar . On this occasion, a prominent and social workers Krishan Lal Sharma announced his decision to join the party after resigning from the Congress. While welcoming and formally admitting him in the party fold, Ram Prakash Sharma General Secretary said that Krishan Lal would be entrusted with appropriate responsibility in the party soon.
