| Striking Council staff assails Govt for back door appointments | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 12: The staff of the J&K State Sports Council continued their ongoing struggle to get their demands accepted with strike entered its fourth day today thereby badly affecting the normal sports activities. The speakers in today's protest dharna alleged that the government delays the release of pay commission benefits as also regularization the daily wagers while on the other hand keep on appointing `unwanted' staff that too through back door. It was also alleged that the Sports Ministry deliberately held up the constitution of the State Sports Council as it helps people at the helm of affairs absorb their kith and kins in the autonomous sports body flouting the laid down norms. Employees never met me: Chib Meanwhile, talking to media persons on the sidelines of a felicitation function organised for state's ace footballers at Srinagar, Minister for Sports, R S Chib said that the striking employees never approached him to discuss their demands. "Employees never met me. They should have come to me and discussed their issues before going for the ongoing strike. Employees should come forward to hold deliberations as we are ready to speak to them provided they call off the strike first," he said. We met Minister thrice: Vikramjeet. It was ridiculous on part of the Minister to issue statement in public that striking employees never met him. "We approached the Sports Minister, R S Chib not once but thrice on different occasions. And, it was his non-serious approach towards our genuine demands that led us to adopt the path of agitation again," said president of Lower Grade Employees Association of J&K State Sports Council, Vikramjeet Singh.
