| Property worth lakhs gutted in twin incidents of fire | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 12: Property worth lakhs was gutted in fire that broke out in a plywood manufacturing factory and a furniture showroom here since last night. Police sources said a major fire broke in KC plywood factory at about 3.30 am today and soon engulfed the whole complex. Ten fire tenders were pressed into service. Sources said it took the firemen hours to extinguish the fire. Timely action by the firemen prevented flames from spreading to the nearby houses, the sources added. Estimated loss was put at lakhs of rupees. Sources said electric short-circuit could be the reason behind the incident. In another incident, a devastating fire broke out inside a furniture showroom due to the sparking of the electric wires late last night. ''The fire spread fast due to the blowing winds and reached a neighbouring house,'' the sources added. Sources said loss of goods worth Rs 15 lakh was estimated in the fire, which was brought under control by the mid-night.
