| Appointment of 2 ISM doctors to remain in abeyance: HC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, June 12: The high court today directed the commissioner/secretary health and family welfare to keep appointment of two ISM doctors in abeyance. A single bench of the court comprising Justice Muhammad Yaqoub Mir issued the order today. Taking cognizance of a petition filed by six IOSM doctors , the court issued notice to the state of Jammu & Kashmir through Commissioner/ Secretary Health & Family Welfare, District Development Commi-ssioner Rajouri, Chief Medical Officer Rajouri and other private respondents returnable within four weeks and ordered that selection of Dr. Sonia Uppal and Dr. Annika Sharma shall remain in abeyance. Court further directed respondents that selection/appointment of rest of the respondents shall remain subject to the outcome of this CMP. The petitioners submitted that the selection pursuant to the advertisement notice vis-à-vis contractual appointment under NRHM Scheme for District Rajouri was initiated and the last date of receipt of applications was September 16, 2009. The said process of selection of various candidates culminated which include Dr. Sonia Uppal and Dr. Annika Sharma. It was further stated by the counsel for the petitioners that both the candidates were not eligible as they have completed the internship on March 18, 2010. In support counsel for the petitioner has placed on record the internship completion certificates of both the candidates. Upon considering the facts, Court observed that a strong prima-facie case which warrants indulgence and issued direction whereby the selection of both the doctors ordered remain in abeyance and the selection/appointment of rest of the respondents shall remain subject to the outcome of this CMP. ---JNF
