EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, 12 June: A meeting of Building Operation Controlling Authority of Jammu Municipal Corporation was held today under the Chairmanship of Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jammu. In the meeting 66 building permission cases were examined out of which 60 cases were cleared. The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner (Adm), Joint Commissioner (Works) and Senior Town Planner of Jammu Municipal Corporation besides other members of Building Operation Controlling Authority. The building permissions cases cleared today are expected to generate revenue of Rs. 9.00 lacs for Jammu Municipal Corporation. Municipal Veterinary Officer assisted by field staff conducted a drive for lifting stray animals in the areas of Ambphalla, New Plots, Janipur, Talab Tillo, Bakshi Nagar, Jewel, D.C. Office, Gujjar Nagar, Parade, Kachi Chawni, Satwari, Digiana, Gangyal, Kunjwani, Sainik Colony, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Bagh-e-Bahu and Panama Chowk. No fewer than twenty stray animals from these areas were lifted and impounded in Municipal Cattle Pound. An amount of Rs. 5760/- was realized as fine from the owners of stray animals. Intensifying the ban drive on the use of polythene carry bags, the Enforcement field staff led by Ravi Sharma, Chief Enforcement Officer inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Bagh-e-Bahu Road etc. During the inspection the team seized about 10 kg of polythene carry bags from the shopkeepers, vendors and outlets in these areas. An amount of Rs. 3200 as fine was realized on spot from seven defaulters.
