| Soz will continue as PCC chief, to infuse discipline in party | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 12: It now sounds like full and final decision of the Congress High Command which for sure will disturb the detractors and anti asoz lobby within Congress. The present J&K PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz is all set to continue heading this responsibility, at least until the civic polls will be held in this state.High command has given indications to those who matter, though a formal announcement to this effect will be made shortly. Well place sources said gradual steps are being taken to infuse discipline and life in the state unit of the Congress so that it is ready to contest the ensuing civic and the Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Party sources said that the first step being taken by the Congress high command relates to giving a free hand to the PCC Chief,Saif-ud-Din Soz,in managing and running the party affairs in the state. In this connection the party high command has already conveyed to the senior Congress functionaries that Soz will be allowed to continue to head the party in the state. A senior Congress leader said that once the party high command made an announcement regarding its support to Soz in running the Congress affairs those in the camp of dissidents would be forced to fall in line.Another step taken by the party high command was in the shape olf clear cut direction to Soz to organise Congress conventions and conference at the district and tehsil headquarters a regular affair. Another senior leader said that the party high command is not willing to initiate disciplinary action against the dissidents in the congress on the plea that it could weaken the organisation and allow a chance to the dissidents either to join the PDP or the National Conference. Reports said that these dissidents were being told to fall in line and accept Soz as their leader. In this context the services of the union Health Minister,Ghulam Nabi Azad, may be utilised for keeping the dissidents under control. A senior party leader belonging to the loyalist camp said "the dissident camp comprises those who were defeated in 2002 and 2008 Assembly election" adding that this indicated that these dissidents had no base in the state. He said that by organising parallel meetings and functions the dissidents were trying to weaken the Congress which was engaged in fighting communal and extremist forces in the state. As the dissidents plan to intensify their campaign against the loyalists Soz has decided to cover all district and t ehsil headquarters in the state during the next one month so that the Congress was ready to show better performance in the ensuing civic and Panchayat elections.
