Adventure camp at Sprawling Buds concludes

JAMMU, June 13: The 11-day long adventure camp, organized by Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here in collaboration with Adventure Holidays India, concluded with the holding of valedictory function at the school premises, today.
"During the camp the participants in the age group of three to 12 years were trained in Sport Climbing, beam balancing, Tarzan Swing, rope knots and tent pitching. Mountaineering equipments were also on displayed during all the camp days and the kids were made aware of their use. Films on adventure were also screened which kept the small children spell bound," Principal of the host School, Puja Sharma told Sports & Allied News.
Besides adventure activities, over 100 participants from various local schools, Udhampur, Kathua and Delhi enjoyed dance and music, taekwando, yoga, splash pool, a magic show and a number of creative activities in art and craft. Competitions in sport climbing, taekwando, dance, music, art and craft were also organized on different days of the camp and winners were honored on the concluding day.
The activities were held under the able guidance of Sumit Khajuria, a highly trained and experienced mountaineer, Sonam Sidharth of Adventure Holidays India, Vikas Sharma of Sarla Birla Academy, Banglore (art and craft) Gurinder Rakwal (Taekwando), Nitin Kumar (dance), Sandeep Koul (music) Neha Datta & Ritesh Sajotra.
Secretary North Zone Sport Climbing Committee, New Delhi, Ram Khajuria was the chief guest on the concluding day, who distributed medals to the winners of the various competitions held during the camp. Eminent personalities who visited the camp to interact with participants and also to share their experiences with the young campers included Professor Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha, Dr C K Khajuria, secretary, Mountaineering Association of J&K and SS Jamwal, president, Tawi Trekkers, J&K. Professor Magotra also delivered an interesting lecture on personality development of a child.

Sub Junior Girls: Nandita Gupta of Delhi Public School, Ist; Anshu of Sprawling Buds School, 2nd and Pragati Sangra of St.Xavier School, Kathua, third.Boys under-10: Chintan of K.V.Nagrota, Ist; Anish of Dream Land Public School, 2nd ; Ayush of Dream Land Public School and Aryan of KV Gandhi Nagar, joint third.
Art and Craft Competition: Akshat Gupta of KV Udhampur, Ist; Aditya Bhan of Modern Secular School, 2nd and Pragun Khajuria of Sprawling Buds School, third.
Dance Competition: Aakanksha of BSF School, Paloura, Ist; Bhuvnesh Bhan of Sprawling Buds School, 2nd and Navya Sharma of Sprawling Buds School, third. Music Competition: Suhana of KV Gandhi Nagar, Ist; Muskaan of Jammu Public School, 2nd and Dipasha of Presentation Convent, Jammu, third.
