| ATG presented Hindi play at Abhinav | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 13: Amateur Theatre Group today presented at Abhinav Theatre, a Hindi play "MAA, BAAP AUR BACHCHEY" -family mellow production for the theatre lovers of the town. Written and directed by young and up-coming writer-director Rajneesh Kumar Gupta and associated by Lucky Gupta, this play is an outcome of 30-days long theatre workshop conducted at Bal Mandir, Ved Mandir, Amphalla, Jammu. Maintaining its innovative tradition, the group has this time conducted the workshop with the inmates of Bal Mandir, Ved Mandir, Amphalla, Jammu in which most of the children hail from the remote areas of Doda district: most of them are the victims of militancy. Many of them have lost their parents and guardians and majority of them has been living has been living as migrants for one decade in the past. Living in Jammu as strangers far away from their families and dreaming to earn name and fame in life is something which others should emulate. All of them are fresher and are exposed to the stage for the first time in their life. The play MAA BAAP AUR BACHCHEY, is based on the theme of exploitation of children by inhuman and tyrannical system promoted by anti-social elements in society. These include employers, mafia dons, drug barons, unfriendly acquaintances and relatives, and even the parents of the children in some cases. Often affluent families engage poverty stricken and helpless children for household chores and mete out cruel treatment to them under the effect of alcohol or drugs. They cheat them of their monthly wages and compel them to behave like mature people when actually the children are still at a tender age. The labour of these children is exploited for pecuniary benefits. They are forced by parents to remain as slaves in the houses of rich people where they are made to clean utensils or polish the shoes of their employers. Sometimes parents force these children to commit small crimes only for the sake of money.. The children who participated in the play were Girja, Dolkar, Priya, Ravinder, Kamir, Suresh, Ashok, Vishav, Neelam, Abhilav, Subhash, Karan, Surjeet, Ranjeet, Sudesh, RaviKant, Surekha and Shiv Raina. Properties and costumes were by Happy Gupta and Mohit Chib respectively. Music was composed by Sunil Sharma and the stage was managed by Tapeshwar Dutta and Ifra Mushtaq. The chief guest, Dr Mrs. Daljeet Magoo of Jammu University praised the efforts of the Group in general and the director in Particular for nurturing children's talent. Besides senior artists of the Amateur Theatre Group a large number of people were present on the occasion. Mushtaq Kak presented vote of thanks .
