| Slathia announces various roads for improving connectivity | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 13: Minister for Industries and Commerce, S S Slathia today announced several roads for improving road connectivity in Vijaypur constituency of border district Samba. The Minister was addressing a public meeting at village Birpur after visiting various adjoining areas. The minister announced that the abounded work on Mandi road would be resumed soon. He also assured that the up-gradation of Tolepur road would also be taken up shortly. The up-gradation work on Mahalshah- Radawan road, to be completed at a cost of Rs 40lakh, was also started in the presence of the Minister. The Minister also announced additional Rs 10 lakh for the improvement of lanes and drains in Birpur village out of his constituency development fund. An amount of Rs 10 lakh has already been made available for the purpose. Responding to the local demands, the Minister issued on the spot directions for connecting the area with the local Birpur Grid Station to ensure adequate power supply. He also directed for installation of a tube-well in the area to meet the potable water requirements of the uncovered areas. Slathia also assured the locals that the demand for opening a dispensary would be projected to the government for early consideration. Listing various developmental works completed in Vijaypur constituency, Slathia said that the government was committed to provide all basic facilities to the rural people. He said endeavors are being made to bring rural areas at par with the urban areas in terms of the availability of basic amenities. Slathia said that massive developmental activities have been launched across the state under the able stewardship of young and dynamic Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. He said the works completed during last one and a half year bears testimony of the visionary and foresighted strategies being pursued by the present government.
