| OBCs stress for accepting their demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, 13 June: In a function, held here today, Abdul Majid, head, District Body of OBCs accorded rousing welcome to Shri Kuldip Raj Verma, Vice-Chairman State Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of OBCs. He thanked the government for constituting the Advisory Board and appointing Verma as its Vice-Chairman. The body hopes that the other demands like 27 % reservation at par with the central rules, issuance of one certificate of OBC instead of OSC, removing of income bar for pre-Matric and post-Matric students belonging to OBCs, construction of hostels at the district headquarters for their children and political reservation shall be considered on priority. Those who spoke on the occasion were Mohammad Shafi Qureshi (District Convener), Abdul Rashid (District Secretary), Fazal Hussain (Joint Secretary), Jai Lal and Chuni Lal (District President Vishav Karma Sabha), Mohammad Sagheer, Mohammad Yaqoob and Romesh Billa. Thanking OBC members who had come from far flung areas, Kuldip Raj Verms said that their demands were already taken up with the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other Ministers at the centre and state. It was hoped that their demands would be considered soon. Deputy Commissioner Rajouri,. G.A. Khwaja and Vice-Chairman Verma also met and discussed issues pertaining to the OBC. He assured of prompt disposal of day to day problems of OBC community.
