| Charcoal manufacturers protest against district administration | | | ARUN TRISAL early times report Kathua, June 13: Charcoal manufacturer of district Kathua registered protest against administration under the banner of Charcoal Manufacturer Association (CMA) for creating hurdles to produce charcoal. District President Sewa Singh and Vice President Vijay Singh resented over callous attitude of district administration that deliberately harass manufacturer, while other manufacturer of Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, are running their small units of charcoal and facing no harassment from administration. They said that all charcoal manufacturer units are registered as per SRO 295 Government of Jammu and Kashmir with no objection certificate from pollution control board and even with deposits Rs. 10000 as security. Inspite of all legal formalities administration is harassing manufactures. IDP chairman I.D Khajuria also came openly in support of charcoal manufacturer and blamed administration for adopting undemocratic tendencies to harass manufacturer. "They all are farmer and farmers have full right on its own production and no body can snatch the right of use of his produce from its own field. So they are not consuming wood at peak level for their units of charcoal manufacturer" he said and added that on other side big industries are openly consuming wood illegally in their industries but no one from administration is seemed to take action against illegal burning of lacks of quintal of wood. Association urged upon administration not to create any hurdles in way of legally installed charcoal manufacturer units. Vijay Singh, Amit Kumar, Nek Ram, Kewal Singh, Nar Singh, Mayor Singh, Yodhamal, Madhan Lal, Sat Paul and others also protested.
