The Omen and the lull before storm
6/14/2010 1:41:13 AM
EARLY TIMES SPECIAL
JAMMU, June 13: The two very important facets that surfaced in the recently gruesome killing of a boy Shalin by his kidnappers reflected through the media, but apparently having evaded the keen observance of the general public and the so called intelligentsia of the state are some surprising disclosure contained DIG's conference on one hand and the other about revelation of Political intervention in shielding the culprit.
If one has to go clinically through the information percolating down through the media about these two aspects, a very bigger connotation is attached thereby to this gory incident that could be seen as the advent of an omen in the peaceful city of temples called Jammu.
The DIG responding to the media query the other day about the incident happening under the fool proof governance of the police department came out with a hasty answer, " If SSP doesn't listens to you, there is DIG to see into it".
This statement though could be dismissed as just rhetoric in a normal circumstance, but the bigger implication of it being read as a serious declaration made by the highest hierarchical incumbency in the Police Department is an eye opener.
"DIG's confession about his immediate subordinates not listening to public resentment or the turn of events shaping place in Jammu regarding surge in crime, there is apparently great threat in offing," lamented a retired army official at Amphalla who stood exchanging pleasantries and information with the media persons who met him outside PCR immediately after the Press Conference.
The officer too had been victim of some untoward incident having occurred in his family where he had to pay a big price.
The other big issue that has compelled to raise an eyebrow is over a political personality influencing his power to intervene for release of one the culprit included into the murder.
Given such state of affair acquiring demoniac proportions here, and Jammu gullibly and silently sitting over the volcanic tip, anything cataclysmic can be expected.
This statement of the DIG that SSP not listening and the political leaders found allegedly involved in the horrendous kidnapping-killing episode, the societal Jammu, for the time being, except crying high and dry over discrimination, development, delimitation or census for the time being should spare a religious moment top ponder what lies in store for them on the criminal fronts.
