Jammu, Oct 18 Two abducted Village Defence Committee (VDC) members were rescued by the police from the clutches of militants in Doda district today. In a pre-dawn operation, police on specific information cordoned off the Gondana area of Doda district and launched a search operation in the dense forest area, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda, Manohar Singh said.
During the operation, police managed to rescue the two abducted VDC members, identified as Ghulam Mohammad and Ghulam Hassan Dar, he said.
A group of heavily armed militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba kidnapped four VDC members-- Shadi Lal, Ram Lal, Gulam Mohammad and Gulam Hassan Dar from a remote village of Tandu Grather in Doda district on Friday night.
They took them to the forest belt, where Shadi Lal and Ram Lal were released.
