| FUTURE OF STUDENTS OF HARMINDER PUBLIC SCHOOL HANG IN BALANCE,STAGE PROTEST DEMONSTRATION | | |
Jammu, October 18, Large number of students of Harminder Public School today staged protest demonstration in front of the office of the deputy commissioner Hridesh Kumar Singh demanding early opening of their school premises. Agitating school students were also accompanied by their guardians in large number who also joined the protest demonstration. It may be mentioned that future of more than 700 school students continue to hang in balance after Jatinder Singh, a class IX student of Harminder Public School allegedly committed suicide after he was thrashed by his school Principal Kirtan Singh for not depositing their monthly fees on time. Public outcry against the school Principal had earlier forced state government to conduct an inquiry and seal the school premises till further orders.Kirtan Singh, arrested by the police is facing charges of abetment to suicide. Chief Education officer HK Dubey is yet to submit his inquiry report. Deputy Commissioner HK Singh when confronted by parents of the school children assured them that since the state government was awaiting inquiry report of the chief education officer any decision to reopen the school premises could be taken after the report was submitted.
