| Symposium organized in Bhawani Vidyalay | | | JAMMU, OCTOBER 18 With an aim to boost the morale of students and provide them opportunity to express themselves, the Department of Information has been regularly organizing symposiums, debates in different educational institutions. As a part of this symposium on ‘Importance of Deepawali’ was organized at Bhawani Vidyalay High School, New Plot here today. Joint Director Information Jammu, Mr S.K Sharma was the chief guest while president of the institution Prof. Anand presided over. Encouraging the young minds to actively participate in such programmes, Mr Sharma apprised about various government schemes formulated for providing education and nourishment to children. He asked them to avail benefits of these schemes and improve their living. Mr Sharma highlighted the importance of celebrating the festival of lights and its relevance in today’s era. He asserted that we could lead a simple but comfortable life if we adopt the principles of our ancestors. Speaking at the symposium, the participants apprised about various aspects of Deepawali. They prayed for peace and tranquility to prevail in the state. The best speakers were presented awards arranged by Information Department. Miss Mani of 9th standard was adjudged the best while Miss Urvashi of 7th class and Miss Divya of 9th class bagged second and third prizes respectively. Joint Director Information, Jammu Mr S.K Sharma presented awards to the winners On the occasion, a colourful cultural programme was presented by the students which received immense applause. . Principal of the school Mr. Khajuria thanked the department for organizing such encouraging programme which would build confidence in children besides providing vent to their hidden feelings. He asked for holding such functions on regular basis
