| JPPF condemns Shalin's murder, offer legal aid to family | | Flays cane charge on BGSBU students | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 20: Jammu Province Peoples Forum (JPPF), an amalgam of several social and non-political organisations, today held a meeting to discuss the problems touching people of Jammu province.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Pavitar Singh, (retd judge) along with Dev Raj Baru, Sunil Sethi, Narayan Singh, Agnishekhar where fifty representatives of different social and business community organizations participated.
Various problems of Jammu province people including kidnapping and murder of Master Shalin Gupta for ransom, brutal lathi charge tear gas smoke shelling and firing in the air at BGSB University, appointment of central University, Vice Chancellor, Raghunath temple Pujari's agitation for enhancement of salaries etc were discussed.
More than 20 participants expressed their views for about two hours and passed a resolution unanimously
It was decided that a team of JPPF comprising of above person would visit the house of slain Master Shalin to express their heartfelt condolence and to give courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.
The JPPF also condemned the brutal killing of Shalin and police for not acting in time. They also expressed that criminal responsible be dealt sternly while BAJ president, Sunil Sethi assured to provide free legal aid for disposal of the case to its logical end
The Forum also condemned the lathi charge, use of indiscrete smoke shelling and firing in the air during peaceful demonstration by the students at BGSB University at Shadra Sherif Rajouri where more than 55 students including girls were beaten mercilessly and injured seriously.
The JPPF delegation met the Div Com Jammu in this regard pleaded cause of the students.
The forum has also constituted a committee to look into the grievance of Raghunath Temple Pujaris and seek their redresser from concerned quarters
The JPPF delegation also discussed the matter about finalization of land for central university Jammu requested him to notify the land immediately as the matter has already delayed a lot and the precious one year of the students has got wasted. It also discussed about the appointment of local VC from Jammu.
