| Pak violates ceasefire on LoC, two killed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 20: Ahead of the June 24 foreign secretary level talks between the two countries to bridge the trust-deficit over India's continuing concerns over cross-border terror, Pakistan today violated ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of Kashmir, killing two army porters and injuring two jawans. The incident also comes ahead of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's visit to Islamabad for the SAARC Interior Minister's Conference. Official sources said Pak troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Machil sector at about 7.30 am, targetting forward Indian posts. In the incident, two army porters were killed, while two jawans sustained critical injuries, the sources added. This was the second ceasefire violation on LoC in a week. Sources said there was always a militant attack, or firing from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir whenever the two countries had decided to sit across the table to sort out differences. Ahead of the June 24 foreign-secretary level talks, India today said it was ready to discuss all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, 'not in an accusatory, but in an exploratory way' to bridge trust-deficit over different issues. The trip by foreign secretary Nirupama Rao and Chidambaram is being seen by the Pak establishment as helping to set in motion the dialogue process suspended since the 26/11 attacks.
