| Dr. Lone’s death anniversary observed | | Sharma inaugurates Dr. Lone Memorial hospital at Nowpora | |
Srinagar, October 18 In connection with observance of the first death anniversary of former Minister Dr. Ghulam Nabi Lone, an impressive function was held at his native place Nowpora, Sangrama today. On the occasion a public health centre named as Dr. Ghulam Nabi Memorial hospital was inaugurated by the Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma. The ten-bed hospital having diagnostic facilities like X-Ray, USG, ECG laboratory available will come up at a total cost of Rs. 1.45 crore. So far, Rs. 46 lakh have been utilized on this hospital. In his address, the Health Minister described late Dr. Lone as a leading physician and visionary besides being a shrewd politician. Regarding improving Indo-Pak relations, the Minister said that an atmosphere of peace and friendship will soon prevail in the valley adding that trade links with Pak would be restored soon. This, he said, would help boost economic activities in the state. Others, who spoke at the function include MLC and Senior Vice President Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil, MLA’s Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir, Mr. Sarfaraz Khan and Mr. Shoaib Lone. Paying tributes to Late Dr. Lone, Mr. Vakil said that during a short-tenure of political career, Dr. Lone left an indelible imprint on socio-political scene of the state.
