| PDP lashes out at NC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Doda/Thathri, June 23: CASTIGATING National Conference regimes for exploiting people of this region just for petty political gains, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded that the State must be compensated for the losses suffered by it because of the discriminatory and arbitrary exploitation of its water resources by the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC). Addressing one-day convention of party card holders at Doda, PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that despite having natural resources like water and forest, this belt remained backward due to the wrong policies of the successive governments headed by National Conference. "It was only during PDP led government that a comprehensive policy was formulated for the development of these areas", he said and informed the party workers that during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed various projects were started for the development of this belt. Speaking on the occasion, PDP leader and MLC Sayed Asgar Ali demanded implementation of the recommendations of the Working Group headed by former RBI Governor C Rangarajan, who has recommended that NHPC projects namely Dulhasti and Salal hydro-electric projects should be handed over to Jammu and Kashmir. District president of Doda district Sheikh Mujib Ali, Attaullah Khan. Advocate Imtiyaz and others senior leaders also addressed.
