| Life returns to normal in Kashmir after two days strike | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jun 23 : Life returned to normal in the Kashmir valley today after two-day general strike called by both factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) in protest against the alleged killing of youths in Srinagar by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police last week. However, life remained crippled in apple township of Sopore and Maisuma. Shops and business establishments reopened this morning in summer capital, Srinagar, and other major towns in the Kashmir valley following a statement by the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) last night declaring that there would be no strike today and tomorrow. Transport was plying normally on all routes and government offices, banks and other public sector undertakings were also functioning as usual. Educational institutions were also functioning normally after remaining closed for two days due to strike. The undeclared curfew restrictions imposed in the downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) since Monday morning were also lifted last night. However, a report from Sopore said shops and businesses remained closed in protest against the beating up of some people, including an imam of a mosque, allegedly by security forces yesterday.
