| Kashmir Chamber of Commerce calls on Commissioner/Secretary GAD | | Extends full support of good governance | | Srinagar, Oct 18 A delegation of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce comprising of senior Vice President Mr. N.A. Dar, Mr. Rouf Punjabi and Mr Mohammad Ibrahim Shahdad called on Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, Mr Khurshid A. Ganai in his office chambers here today. The delegation conveyed the appreciation of the chamber to the efforts being made by Chief Minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad for improvement of governance and eradication of corruption in the state. However, they pointed out that since General Administration Department is the key player in the whole process of governance, therefore it needs to issue clear cut guidelines to the subordinate offices so that there is perceptible change at the cutting edge level. The delegation felt that in view of rich experience of Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department particularly his understanding of Kashmir administration, people are expecting a lot from him. The delegation asked Commissioner Secretary to assure the higher authorities especially Chief Minister that Kashmir Chamber of Commerce fully supports his efforts for the improvement of governance and they are ready to give their suggestions as and when called for. They also informed that Kashmir Chamber of Commerce will soon hold a seminar in Srinagar on “good governance measures”. The delegation appeal to the government for improvement of road and power infrastructure in the valley, augmentation of parking places in Srinagar city, lifting of ban on parking at Hari Singh High Street, dredging of flood channels, ban on polythene, fencing of Babadamb, conservation of Dal Lake, construction of fly-over at Hyderpora and Aloochi Bagh, over bridge near Government Women College and ban on entry of organized baggers from outside the state. |
