| Madan Lal's utterances embarrass J&K coalition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 23: The frequent jibes at the functioning of state government by some of the seniorJammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) leaders have brought the party's relations with its coalition partner- National Conference, on crossroads. It seems that the PCC leaders are least concerned with the adverse effect of their Diatribes on the coalition. Even though the Pradesh Congress Committee President Prof Saif-ud-din Soz is trying to remove the squabbles within the party and ensuring a strong relationship With its coalition partner National Conference. With elections for local bodies and panchayats are approaching nearer, the Congress can hardly afford frequent utterances of the party leaders against its own government. In the recent past, the statements issued by Member of Parliament (MP) Madan Lal Sharma in public rallies have brought big embarrassment for not only the party but also for Soz, who is attempting to rejuvenate the party cadre ahead of the local bodies and panchayat polls. The party insiders are of the opinion that the reported statements of the Congress MP have landed the party leadership in an awkward position due to their tone And tenor, which are also perceived as anti-party. Madan Lal Sharma, the sitting MP from Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency has of late resorted to open criticism of coalition government. He did not even spare his party colleagues, some of whom are ministers in the Omar-led coalition government. Every now and then he accused the Congress ministers of ignoring interests of Jammu Region which according to sources has not been taken in good stead by the party rank and file. While the Member of Parliament continues with his open attacks on the present dispensation, he however forgets that his younger brother is holding one of the key ministries in the coalition government. If sources are to be believed, the National Conference leadership is also keeping a close Tab on Sharma's public statements and has taken serious note of his constant Digs at the state government. Going by MP's recent statements, it has come to notice that he has sort of developed a Habit to open a volley of allegations on state government. First he launched a scathing attack on government for introduction of inter district recruitment Bill in the state assembly and alleged that the ministers from Jammu had not opposed what he termed as anti Jammu bill in a function organized by state NSUI which was also attended by Union Minister of State for Communication, Sachin Pilot. Upping its ante against the coalition government, Madan Lal Sharma again hit hard The present regime during a public meeting in Nagrota recently wherein he charged it of deliberately overlooking the tourist places of Jammu region. And this time again, it was none other than Nawang Rigzin Jora, representing Congress in the state cabinet and holds the charge of Tourism ministry, who had been targeted by him there by again giving some anxious moments to the party
