Dismal functioning of BSNL adds to woes of consumers

Jammu, June 23: The dismal functioning of BSNL in J&K has led to the problems of consumers in the state but the authorities at the helm of affairs pay scant attention it.
There are not only the complaints about the mobile services but also the landline services of the organisation is not also upto the mark. The consumers problems day by day prolong as no one at the authorities level is ready to redress the same for the smooth functioning of the organisation. The comsumers are in fix as they don't know whom to approach for the redressal of their problems such a sorry state of affairs has led to the disputes between the organisation and the consumers. With the result later either knocks the door of court of law or approach telephone adalat for redressal of their grievances and settlement of disputes. Hundreds of such disputes are pending at present for disposal. According to sources there is hardly any day left when dozens of consumers don't approach to the account cells of BSNL in the state for verification of reasons for wrong billing and they return high and dry after they are not given satisfactory answer by the concerned officers due to lack of accountability in the Departments, the sources added. The sources said besides the disturbance in towers which hamper proper communication of mobile networking the functioning of landline and internet system is also not up to the mark in the state. The sources said due to power disturbances the consumers are unable to communicate properly as the mobile stops functioning suddenly. In many localities of Jammu city and its outskirts though umpteen complaints of this nature were brought to the notice of authority but to no avail. Same is the case with landline, the consumers are not sent bills in time which the department is supposed to do and in case of a dispute the doubts of the consumers are not being cleared. Some consumers who have paid the balance amount of their bills are again charged the same in next bills and this process continues till the amount piles up. On the internet side also the consumers are charged extra money than the duration of interneting. Moreover it often happens the amount already paid by the consumers is not being deducted in next bills due to lack of coordination in the Organisation. There are even complaints that a consumer who had paid the entire payment in march was sent an extra bill of march again in April. Likewise in the plan of 750 broadband though rent is charged from the consumers many customers have received bills for this plan also which reveals the dismal function of the organisation.
