| Child murder: Statements of witnesses recorded | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: In a much publicized case where ten-year-old child was murdered for ransom, police today produced two important witnesses before the Court of Excise Magistrate, Jammu, for recording their statements u/s 164-A CrPC. According to the statement of witness Rahul Kumar, a shopkeeper at Ashok Nagar and a resident of Nai-Basti whose motorcycle was used in the crime, deposed that on June 11, Devinder Pal Singh and his friend Gagandeep Singh came to him and took his motorcycle. Kumar stated that at about 8:30 pm while he was closing the shop, he saw Devinder Pal Singh and Gagandeep Singh and also Shailin moving towards National Highway on a motorcycle. A statement was recorded. In another statement , Jeetu Verma, an employee of PCO at Bus-Stand said that on June 11, at about 9:30 pm two boys came to his PCO and made a call and also had a cold drink. Later, both left the shop after making payment of call charges and cold drink. Verma said, later at about 12:00 a call came to him asking about the location of his STD PCO booth. This witness also identified both the accused in Police Station. ---JNF
