Students find hard to fill Shalin’s loss
6/24/2010 10:45:41 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 23: Unlike the moments of happiness and reunion excitement after vacations the students of Air Force School Satwari today met on a solemn and somber note.
The School reopened today after summer vacation only to mourn on the first day the sad and brutal killing of its student Shaleen Gupta of Class 5th.
Shocked and awe-struck, both students as well as the teachers felt frightened even to discuss the horrifying incident that snatched one of the students of this school recently. Perturbed and aghast in particular were the students of the fifth standard who felt a vacuum of Shaleen in the class.
"I can't believe this that my friend Shaleen is no more in the class. I console myself with a false belief that he is still on holiday," a friend of Shaleen said with tears rolling down on her cheeks.
"We cannot concentrate on the studies his sudden loss is indescribable and unspeakable," she said.
Weeping and sobbing at the place next to Shaleen's seat, was his another friend who just kept mum, perhaps not reconciling to the fact that Shaleen became victim of the brutal episode of abduction, something which they had seen in the movies alone.
Another close friend of Shaleen with dejected face said, "His behaviour was very good and we used to go school together, play together and come back to home together. I have lost my friend but he is still around us."
"It is hard for the entire school to believe this gory happening. The children are perturbed for obvious reasons and it will take them time to become normal", said a school teacher.
"When I entered the Classroom the desk of Shaleen was vacant as he is not with us," he remarked.
While the school formally mourned the sad demise, students in general and that of Shaleen's own class were found disturbed for the entire day, with almost each one of them either looking panicked and shaky or simply too quiet to believe the way Shaleen was kidnapped and killed.
The Principal of the School also described the incident as unfortunate, saying "It was really shocking news for school that it has lost Shaleen."
Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, all students, teachers and other staff members unanimously decided exemplary punishment for accused.
